Kargo Master has recently released their new and improved design for their Clamp and Lock Ladder Rack Systems. These racks still have all the same features we know and love from Kargo Master, and have some new qualities that make set the standard for durability and ease while on the job.
These ladder racks are available in both steel and aluminum. The steel racks are more affordable and are coated with a marine grade white powder coat for corrosion resistance. The aluminum racks are naturally rust resistant and are the #1 choice in coastal areas like Florida and in states that get a lot of snow.
For those of you not familiar with how clamp and lock racks work: when your ladder is placed in the mechanism, the rungs are held between two clamps. The clamp in the rear of the van is on an adjustable arm, which clamps the ladder securely into place when the handle is pushed into its latch.
The new versions of these racks have more rubber padding, which means more protection for both your rack and your ladders. It also helps keep the ladder from sliding while loading it on and off of the rack.
The new design also features candy cane style tubes on the side that angle out just enough to make it easier to catch a ladder rung onto it easily. This means you can just lean your ladder up against the rack, catch the rung on the hook, and swing the bottom of the ladder up over the clamp arm to lock it into place.
Just like the previous versions, the clamps heights are adjustable to accommodate different types of ladders, and the handle has a latch that can be locked with a padlock for extra security when you have to park your van out on the street.
These racks are available in both single (curbside) and double side options for the following vehicles:
- Chevy Express
- Chevy City Express
- Ford Transit
- Ford Transit Connect
- GMC Savana
- Mercedes Metris
- Nissan NV
- Nissan NV200
- Ram ProMaster City
