From Work Truck Week to Your Job Site: Ranger Design’s Trazer Truck Utility System
Work Truck Week gives industry professionals a chance to explore equipment that can improve the way they work. When Work Van Equipment attended the 2024 show, Ranger Design’s expanding truck equipment lineup was one of the developments that caught our attention.
The Trazer Truck Utility System brings together truck racks, toolboxes, over-the-cab extensions and canopy options. For contractors who work from a pickup, the modular system offers a way to organize tools and materials around the demands of their trade.
A Truck Setup That Can Grow with Your Business
Different trades need different storage. An electrician may prioritize accessible tools and small parts, while a contractor may need room for ladders, lumber and larger equipment. Trazer brings several storage functions into one coordinated system.
The rack provides overhead carrying space, toolboxes create dedicated storage, and a compatible canopy adds an enclosed area in the truck bed. An over-the-cab extension offers another configuration option for suitable longer loads.
Plan the complete layout before choosing individual components. Bed space, toolbox access and overhead cargo support should all work together.
Compare the Main Trazer Components
| Component | Main Function | Useful When You Need To |
|---|---|---|
| Trazer truck rack | Supports suitable cargo above the truck bed. | Carry ladders or long materials while leaving room below for other equipment. |
| Trazer toolboxes | Provide dedicated, lockable tool storage. | Separate everyday tools from larger cargo and make them easier to find. |
| Trazer canopy | Integrates with compatible Trazer components to create a weather-resistant enclosure. | Add covered bed storage for tools and materials. |
| Over-the-cab extension | Extends the rack’s supporting footprint forward. | Configure support for suitable longer loads within the system’s specified limits. |
Trazer Truck Racks: Make More Use of Your Pickup
Ladders, pipe and lumber can quickly occupy a pickup bed. A truck rack gives suitable long materials a separate carrying location, helping you preserve space below.
Trazer racks combine aluminum construction, multi-channel extrusions for compatible attachments and forklift-loading compatibility. This can be useful for businesses that pick up materials at supply yards.
Select the rack for your truck and bed length, then check the load rating and loading instructions for that exact configuration. A rack does not increase the truck’s payload rating.
Trazer Toolboxes: Keep Everyday Equipment Accessible
Digging through loose tools slows down the start of a job. Dedicated truck boxes give equipment a consistent storage location and help separate it from bulk materials.
Trazer toolboxes feature large lift-up doors supported by gas shocks and a three-point locking system. Their smooth exterior panels also provide space for business branding.
Choose the box size for your bed configuration and consider how you will organize the interior. Compatible shelf accessories can help divide smaller supplies from larger tools.
Trazer Canopies: Add Enclosed Bed Storage
Ranger Design introduced the Trazer Canopy at Work Truck Week 2026, adding an enclosed storage option to the Trazer Truck Utility System.
Designed to integrate with the Trazer system, the canopy creates a weather-resistant enclosure for tools and materials. It adds a covered storage option for businesses that need more protection than an open bed provides.
Work Van Equipment lists rack, toolbox and canopy packages for 5-1/2-foot and 6-1/2-foot beds. Review each package carefully: accessories, ladders and carrying cases shown in product photos may be sold separately.

Plan Your Truck Upfit Before Ordering
Ranger Design lists Trazer applications for Ford F-150, Chevrolet Silverado 1500, GMC Sierra 1500 and Ram 1500 pickups. Exact compatibility depends on the product and vehicle configuration.
- Confirm the vehicle: Have your truck’s year, make, model, cab style and bed length ready.
- Map your cargo: Identify which tools belong in boxes, which materials need overhead support and how much open bed space you need.
- Review installation: Listed Trazer packages offer no-drill installation, but check the instructions and mounting requirements for your selected configuration.
- Check the complete weight: Include the rack, toolboxes, canopy, passengers and cargo when planning around your truck’s payload limit.
Ordering two toolboxes? Some listed packages include boxes with different keys. Ask about compatible alternate key cylinders if you want to coordinate the locks.
